Kimbre McWhorter-Wright M.A., CCC-SLP

Welcome to my home away from home! I am an ASHA certified, Speech-Language Pathologist with specialization in pediatric speech and language evaluation and therapy services. As an SLP, I’ve worked in a variety of settings including private practice, home-based early intervention, developmental preschool centers, public elementary and middle schools, public educational programs for the Deaf, and short and long term rehabilitation facilities in Virginia, Washington D.C., Florida, and Indiana.

While continuing to work intermittently with adults in the areas of cognitive-linguistic skills and stuttering, I followed my heart to specialize in pediatric services and have since dedicated my professional life to working with children and their families to foster growth of communication skills for improved expression of self, deeper connection with others, and greater access to the world around them.

With a background in American Sign Language (ASL), I model sign in the context of Total Communication (TC) and promote the use of all modes of communication when working with children struggling to understand and express language. I utilize a multimodal learning approach in the context of play-based interventions to increase attention, interest, and engagement for a deeper learning experience.

I believe communication should be enjoyable and rewarding and that practicing skills in contexts where we feel safe, happy, motivated, and loved brings out our greatest potential.
